Dont know if this is the right place to post this question but I need a bit of info.
Tonight I looked at my young sow I think she could be about 4 mths old at the most. I got her about 3weeks ago. Now I have had gpigs for about 40 years now (mainly boys tho) and I have never seen a sow actually loosing blood in a season, so I'm hoping this one is just in season and not got a problem. When I went out to bed them for the night I see blood on the hay fresh blood which wasnt there when I went out earlier to feed them, so I looked at them all (I have 4 girls in together) and I found that one girl had blood comming from her as if she was bleeding so I bathed her and cleaned her and it was fine but then shortly after it started to bleed again, she has no other signs of illness and is still eating and happy to be picked up with no signs of discomfort. Now I'm going to show my ignorance here and ask that when a sow looses season blood do it bleed a lot at once or just trickle out. Of course I will be taking her to a vet tomorrow if shes still like it to have her checked, but I was just wondering if it could be her season and I'm worrying for nothing. Shes never been with a boar here with me but where I got her from who knows, even tho the sexes were seperated. I know it sounds a silly question but like Ive said Ive never seen a sow in season and never noticed blood on hay like this before. Whether I have just been lucky in the past and my others have cleaned themselves good so Ive seen no evidence and this one has just not got the hang of cleaning herself yet or I just happen to go out to them at this particular time when its comming away.
Hope you can understand all this what Ive written lol
