Junior Guinea Pig
I'm sure I'm not the first person to ever think of this, but hot damn I am so proud of my brain right now I just had to share!
I have a little back-to-back terrace. It's a perfect size for me, but no, I do not have oodles of free floor space.
Which means my playpen/run (this kind of thing) is a total pain in the backside to use in the house. As a hexagon, it takes up a shedload of floor space and I have to climb over it all day long. As a rectangle or other more space-efficient shape, the safety net doesn't attach and the cat hops right in (not that he's EVER tried anything and the pigs are always supervised anyway, but you know, he IS a cat, can't be too careful).
So I gone and done this:
Now it didn't QUITE fit. It was (annoyingly) too tall to fit under the table, and slightly too small to fit round it using it's normal stakes. I connected two L-shaped panels with the stakes, then tied these together with a bit of string around opposite table legs. This left no gaps anyone could squeeze in or out of, and seems sturdy enough for use when I'm at home to keep an eye out for this one:
who obviously decided to inspect the area for any hidden hazards prior to his baby brothers' occupation.
Everyone loves it and it's taking up ZERO extra space while I clean today. Yay!
I'm not sure this would work with every run/table combo, but it's just about perfect here. The top of the panels come right up to the bottom of the table, so NO WAY is Gizmo (AKA Sir Fattington) going to climb in there.
