We had one of our females who is 2years old spayed and her stitches came out last Thur. All went well and the op had to be done as she had an ovarian cyst and had lost a lot of weight. She had also got grumpy to our other female.
Can you tell me does it take a few weeks for the hormones to settle after this op or is it immeadiate?
I just wonder as although things are very peaceful between them, when we enter the room to talk to them despite being blind as well she will chatter her teeth at our other female and chase her away.
When we leave the room harmony is restored.

It does take a while for the hormones to die down, but the chattering teeth thing doesn't appear to be a hormonal response (in my experience anyway) but an aggressive/dominant one.

I had a hormonally aggressive pig spayed a couple of months ago, and what has stopped is the rumblestrutting and chasing/mounting etc. However, I had a little trouble rebonding the three girls, as she was still very much the top pig, teeth chattering etc. After a few scuffles they settled back down.

Thankyou, I think it is her hormones as she does the strutting, trying to mount and chasing, but only when we call them over for a fuss.
Because she is blind and can't see, if I pretend to go out the door and then sneak quietly back and pop my head round, she doesn't realise I am there and everything quietens down again.
There is no dominance at feeding time over the greens and before her cyst she was always just a very friendly loving girl to the other one, in fact the other one was always boss till then but in a nice way.
Hopefully she will calm down in our prescence again soon too. I just wasn't sure if the hormone levels went back to normal immeadiatly after the op or if they took a few weeks. I know with Males they take a while.
