Do you all spay your sows? I'm thinking about it, but just wondering if it makes that much of a difference. And if so at what age is best?

Most sows on here aren't spayed unless they are living with an un-neutered boar as it is a much more complex operation than the op to neuter a boar. There are some sows that are spayed for health reasons though.

I personally wouldn't do it and if you did it would need to be a vet that has performed the op many times.

I definitely wouldn't do it unless it's for medical reasons personally. I don't believe that spaying changes their behaviour x

Ok thanks. I read somewhere that it's good to do as a preventative measure against cysts and cancer, like with dogs. But if the worth doesn't outweigh the risks then I'm not gonna do it. I didn't want to be a bad pig mom by not having it done.

You won't be a bad piggy mum if you don't have them spayed.

We had our rabbit spayed for health reasons and it settled her behaviour, but I haven't heard of doing it for guinea pigs.
