For them to just go to sleep in their own respective hutches. Why do I bother!

I sadly lost a girl from one of my two pairs so I decided to bond the single pig with the pair. I set up a mutual space, cleaned the two hutches (they are joined by a garden part opposite each other), took away the divider and let them loose in the space.

They rumbled and humped each other and then just went to sleep in their own hutches!

Just give them time - it sounds good! New older piggies of mine take their time to fully join into the new group they have been accepted in; they often stay apart for several days, especially when they have the option to return to their own quarters.

Aww, give it time. Much better than them fighting!
Thats very true. I was very anxious about a possible fight but they have been neighbours through bars for a few years so I think that's why it went smoothly.

The ultimate goal was to have the three sleep together at night so that one is not cold but if they don't want to I can hardly make them.

They are around 5 or 6 years old so they are all settled into their own space and routine. I guess they know 'their' bed and that's where they are comfortable.

Hopefully they all integrate into a little trio!

As long as they are happy to spend their waking time together, then you are fine. Older girls often prefer their usual routine and their own space.
Just look out for signs that acceptance has happened and that they have worked out (or not worked out) who is coming on top. Dominance then travels down the ranks.

Thank you, I have read through all the bonding posts before I tried this morning. I will continue to read because there is something new to learn always!

There was chattering and rumble strutting and a little bit of humping but nothing really unfriendly!

In that case, just give them space and time to work it out between themselves. Just be patient. There is no hurry.
