Boris has always had fairly regular sperm rods, which he's either removed himself and if he can't I have for him. Because of this I've become quite good at extracting his penis (not a skill I'm prooud of!) .

Well, he's now squeaking everytime he wee's, so I picked him to check for a rod and I can feel something in his penis but I cannot extract it! He squeaked when I tried to extract it too, so I'm guessing it is more tender then usual.

I'm planning on taking him to the vet tomorrow if he's still squeaking but I'm a bit concerned over not being able to extract his penis, is this likely to be a stone or another rod?

Thanks for any help :)

Pop him on a white blanket see if he is passing any blood would by my first advice. If blood is present it could be a stone or uti but if its clear could be a sperm rod or cystitis. Vets is a good idea :)

I've just checked again and managed to extract his penis, nothing was protruding and he didn't object this time (apart from farting) so I'm assuming he removed it (in which case I believe it was another rod). I'll keep an ear out tonight and tomorrow morning still and take him in if he's still squeaking :) Will also give the blanket trick a go anyway to be safe :)

He may have had some hay stuck up there which was making him uncomfortable, and now it's dropped out? If he continues to cry when weeing, a vet trip would definitely be recommended.

Sometimes there can be a lot of gunky spermy build up that forms more of a ball shape than the usual rod - he might have been struggling to remove/pass one of those.
Definitely keep an eye on him and go to the vets if he's still squeaky or you spot any blood.

As far as I can tell this morning he's back to his normal grumpy self! No more crying or any blood :) As the rods are such a regular occurrence I'm quite conflicted on whether to have him neutered? I was on the fence about it for other reasons (pairing with female) but as he's in regular pain I'm not sure what to do :(
