Can someone please tell me what they are and how to get rid of them?

It's congealed semen. Piggies normally get rid of them themselves, but sometimes you may need to help. This thread contains some pictures:

They can usually be gently removed from the protruding penis. Some baby oil and cotton buds can help with the job.

I've had several boars, and only one has had them regularly.

PS) Welcome to the forum!

That's another term you'll never read in a guinea pig book - grease gland, anal sack and sperm rod!

I have had a little tug on them and they seem to be attached to him. Is that right? It didnt hurt him at all though. I did try uploading a picture but not sure how to.

When you go to reply click upload a file buttom next to the post reply button. Then select picture from your device

Worked out how to upload but my file size is too big :(

Hmmm...it's a bit tricky to tell. It could possibly be a small piece of hay, or a sperm rod.

Have you tried gently 'releasing' the penis to get a clearer look (by pushing gently on the area above the penis)? Sometimes when you do this the sperm rod will fall out.

I just pulled the last sperm rod out - he didn't feel it at all x

Yeah i have done that and also tried to pull on them a little bit. They seem attached to him but not hurting him

If it isn't a sperm rod, and is indeed attached to him, then I really can't think what it might be. I wonder if @Wiebke has any ideas?

Does he seem in any pain when he wees? It may be worth getting it checked out by your vet for your own peace of mind.

It doesn't look like a sperm rod. Each penis has got two little hooks attached for the mating, it may be this you are seeing?

It doesn't look like the sperm rods that Barney has had. BTW if he does pass a sperm rod just be prepared for the smell - it's not good!

I agree with Wiebke. One of my boys regularly produces sperm rods. They are very white & have the consistency of calamari. You photo looks like the 2 penis hooks boys have, something else that my boy likes to show me now & then.
