Whereabouts are you based? I'm in the UK with outdoor pigs and don't try to prevent the spiders from shacking up with the pigs at all. Not a massive spider fan but to be honest they help keep the flies away and I kind of think they are a bit more of a natural defence against flystrike so I'd rather put up with the spiders

I'm in Scotland, and thanks for the reply I was worried cause the guinea pigs are my first pets and I wasn't sure if they are harmful. Also, some of the spiders are pretty big and I cannot stand spider especially the big ones. Thanks again for putting my mind at ease.

I'm with @Lady Kelly on this one - I'd rather have spiders than flies - I HATE flies! If you do want to deter them, though, my sister swears by conkers.

Oh that would explain why one of my previous tenants left loads of conkers on the windowsills then. They did email me once to complain about bugs coming in from the garden... Not sure what I was meant to do about that
Has the spider whisperer @sport_billy been in touch offering his services yet? This was his last job.
