Further to previous posts I have now created a 'Sponsor a Piggy' page for Guinea Pig Rehoming Norfolk here:

http://www.guineapig-rehoming-norfolk.co.uk/sponsorapiggy.htm

I will also add details to this thread too. We hope to at least partly cover some of the costs of the long-term residents both at mine and at Vikki's, so far there are 8 lots of piggies waiting for sponsorship and we will add your name to their sponsor list on the site as a thank you, as well as receiving a photo and sponsorship certificate when you adopt for the year.

Hope everyone likes the piggies we've chosen!

Beefy and Baggy
Beefy is a 4 year old neutered boar who unfortunately suffers from terrible impaction problems which require him to be cleaned out thoroughly twice a day or more, making him almost impossible to rehome. Baggy is a food-defensive sow who loves Beefy but refuses to share him with anyone else! So this couple are inseperable.

Kiki
Kiki is about 2 years old and came in with a group of pigs which had sadly been allowed to in-breed. Kiki was pregnant on arrival and had a healthy litter which were succesfully rehomed, but as she herself is in-bred and only has one eye, she has remained in our care as a long-term resident.

PinBall and Wizard
Pinball and Wizard were part of a large rescue intake. Unfortunately Pinball has slight brain-damage which means he has difficulty with his balance, and while he is happy in himself it is unfair to move him to new surroundings as he would not travel well. Wizard is his buddy and they live happily as a pair.

Captain Jack Sparrow
Captain Jack came into rescue at 5 years old because his brother had died and his owners did not want any more guineas. He didn't have a name on arrival, so was given an extra special name to make up for 5 years without one! He will live out his retirement here with us

Poppy and Daisy
Poppy and Daisy are two beautiful satin ladies who came in from poor conditions and heavily pregnant. They have now littered safely but due to the OD risk of Satin piggies and the rough time they have had previously being over-bred, they will remain with us for long-term care.

Fizz
Fizz came into rescue from appalling conditions and had been very neglected by her previous owner and lacking in food and water. She was pregnant on arrival and despite her poor condition, amazingly gave birth to 3 healthy babies who have all been rehomed, but given her previous hardship she has remained here as a long-term resident.

Fanny Adams and Splodge
Fanny Adams has her own story to tell (see left hand links!), as she came into rescue in an awful state and she's had a long and slow road to recovery. Thankfully she is now putting on weight and condition. Her pal Splodge has similarly blossomed, and the two make a lovely pair but due to long-term medical problems need to remain in our care

Zippy
Zippy was found dumped in a Layby with no food or water in the snow. Luckily a passer-by heard squeaking and discovered the cat carrier he was dumped in. On arrival Zippy was mal-nourished a weak but went on to make a full recovery and has remained here as a permanent resident,
and is employed as 'Uncle Pig' to any baby boars that need him!

I would also like to offer a free sponsorship to anyone who has already donated today to the Rupert Appeal, as a thank you! Please pm me with your chosen piggy and I'll sort the rest! :)

Omg how gorgeous are they all! So glad they finally have happy lives! Wish I could sponsor one but barely have the funds for my own atm. In the future I'd love to though x

Oooo I just spoke to my mum and she wants to sponsor zippy :) will get on there later to make the donation when my OH is back with his paypal details! yay! xx

Sophie, I've just sent £15 for Beefy and Baggy. Was torn between them, and Pinball & Wizard. I am a sucker for pigs with health problems.

Thank you both - very kind indeed!

Laura, Beefy and Baggy are very deserving, as is poor Vikki who has to do the twice daily cleaning of Beefy's bum! She'll be so pleased you chose them, thank you.

I really don't envy Vikki that job. I struggle once a week with Frankie, never mind twice a day. I hope all these pigs find sponsors, I am sure it will turn out to be a very worthwhile fundraiser.

I am sorry.... but Fizzy is special to me so can I choose her as my sponser pig....
besides need some more femininity in my life...

I have decided to sponsor Poppy and Daisy in memory of my Dizzy (nee Daisy) and her first companion Lulu, who was a satin. It fits, doesnt it?

Thank you everyone - an amazing response today for this and Rupert's appeal, I'm really touched. Will be contacting everyone re: sponsor pigs tomorrow to get details etc., thanks so much

Good luck with your sponsorship scheme.

I've had great success with mine although I have chosen to have just one piggy to sponsor.

Sadly Malcolm passed away recently so I will have to introduce a new "sponsor piggy" some time soon.

Malcolm did a great job though of being responsible for the "piggy purse" and his supporters enjoyed hearing about his progress too. I loved it when people emailed me asking after him - he was even supported by a whole office in a town planning department!:))

I simply didn't have the time to update individuals and didn't want to generate lots of extra work for myself - most people seemed happy just knowing it was helping all the residents here.

It's a great idea though and one that everyone can get involved in - any donations make a difference.

Hope it goes well and good luck :)

Thank you Summerleaze. I remember reading about Malcolm, and I'm so sorry he passed away. Hard shoes to fill for your next sponsor piggy!

I've been meaning to do something like this for a while, so I'm pleased people seem to like the idea and I hope you get lots of sponsors for your new sponsor piggy too.

I've been and told the piggies who have been chosen... neighbours must think I'm mad if they over-hear me!

We can't have Fanny Adams left out - I'll sponsor her as well as Kiki. Will have to send my cheque separate to the other one though, if that's o.k.

o.k. that's fine, Pompypigs can sponsor Fanny Adams - I just didn't want her feeling left out! Thanks, Pompypigs.

We're all very quick off the mark today, aren't we. :))

Ha ha - sorry Sue - I was reading her story as you posted & because my Gerty has a UTI at the mo I felt a 'connection' so she had to be the one. Then I couldn't leave her friend Splodge out so I had to sponsor them both :(|)

I wasn't trying to be greedy, as I'm already sponsoring Kiki. I'd helped a little when Fanny Adams had surgery a while ago, so I too felt a "connection" and like I said, didn't want her to be left out.

But at the end of the day, it just means all the piggies are being sponsored, and that's the main thing.:)

I'm still waiting to see my OH for the paypal details! I haven't forgotten will do it as soon as I see him :) x

Just to say to everyone who has been kind enough to sponsor a piggy, we will be sorting out sponsorship packs over the next few days and hope to have them with you within a fortnight.

Thank you to everyone who has replied, every pig has at least once sponsor now. We hope to add more pigs - and maybe even some bunnies and ducks -shortly!

Thanks again
