Sporty Piggies?

Had a bit of a silly thought today, sitting watching my boyz. I wondered if anyone has piggies who might qualify if not to enter the Olympics, then perhaps some other national sporting feature.

My Nutty would be excellent at Tossing the Caber, in the Scottish Highland Games. I don't cut the boyz cucumber in rings, but hack off a couple of inches, then slice it down the middle into "logs". Marmy just tucks into his whichever way up it has landed. But Nutty definitely prefers starting on the inside out, so to get it in the right position he definitely tosses it over his shoulder - it certainly looks as if he's practising for the Games.

Do any of your piggies do something similar?

Some of mine would be good at hurdling... Cos of the set up of my cage (I've got two cages joined together end to end) and despite me putting a bridge across the ends of the bases for them to run from one to the other, they hurdle over where the two ends meet.. Quite impressive.

Also do any of you or have any of you ever had a guinea pig games calendar? :p I've had one for years now, they are hilarious.
 
Erm Fred would most certainly qualify for javelin throwing, replace the Javelin with a pigloo and you have the new piggy Olympics.

Fred loves nothing better than throwing Wilma's pigloo round the cage.
 
Sweep would be brilliant at jumping off things, we only have to take our eye off him for one minute and he'll be off the sofa and running free with his bottom wiggling at us.

Several of mine would be good at tug-of-war games especially if grass is involved!
 
Nigel would have been good for the javelin they way he used to sling his syringe about.

:D I love those calendars! I try to get one every year. Its very clever how they do those pictures.

If there was an event for 'cage rattling at dinner time' then my Dave has to be a favourite to win! :lol!:
 
My treacle would win the triple jump no problem. When she gets excited she doesn't run and just do one popcorn and then run some more. She does more like a connected series of three popcorns from one foot to the other without a gap and squeaks an exclamation with each one (piggie version of a female olympiad grunting!). Whilst doing that she also tosses her head around too like a bull or lion with a mane charging. She can cover a full circuit of my one meter square run with only two interlinked popcorns! None of my other piggies popcorn like that and it's very funny to see.
 
Sunrise would make a good Sumo wrestler. She's very rounded, one may call her 'rotund', and when she rose up to attack what could have been a boarfriend (had she been more welcoming) she was a sight to behold! She just needs to learn the rules - no biting allowed.
Her cage mate, Penny, excelled at artistic jumping or popcorn-gymnastics when she was little, now she excels at follow-the-leader, though I'm not sure it's an official Olympic sport yet (it should be).
Freddie is a pro at head-butting things in his cage - the lift-and-move type of head-butt. Perhaps he could go for weight-lifting.
Oreo could turn eating into an Olympic sport. I know this describes all piggies, but Oreo goes the extra mile in that area :)
 
If I close my eyes I can see some of these active piggies "doing their thing" - would make a brilliant Piggy Olympics of our own.

Don't think it sounds sad at all - rather nice actually. Sweet dreams.
 
TV is no good , to many programs involving animal crualty

Dindy would have been one of those big strong Russian shot putters.
Tufty was a sprint starter, a bit like a trapdoor spider.
Holly is the decathlete.
Rosie is the grab and run relay runner.
The rest are armchair athletes.
