Hi, I've two guineas, during the day they're outside in my garden, I noticed they have small tiny mites, on the top of their backs, not a lot. They are healthy and dont scratch at all. Anyway I treated them with Parasite drops, last night. The advice I need is when should I bathe them as I dont want to remove the medication. I've read to freeze their hay as I could be the cause. Thanks Lisa

Hello, welcome to the forum. Sounds like it could be running lice. I am moving this to the health and illness sectio as it will get more views there. @helen105281

Are they white?

Don't click quote, just click reply then you can reply :)

It does sound like lice. Usually we say not to bath for 48 hours after any Ivermectin treatment. What drops did you use?

It was called Spot On Parasite it did contain Ivermectin, two little droplets each(.£4.50 from Wilkos) Do you think they got them from being in the garden? Ive also ordered a Kwench lotion and aloe melt from gor.guineas shop

It's possible or from their hay, it may be worth buying a new batch. I think the spot on from Wilkos is more of a preventative so if it doesn't clear up I would ask your vet for something stronger but let them know what you have already given. What are you going to bath them with?

I use Johnsons small animal shampoo, do you think I shouold get something better?

I am not sure how effective that is, is it possible to add Gorgeous Guineas Lice and easy to your order?

Also the Kwench I think that may be more for fungal. I could be wrong though as not used Gorgeous guineas in years.
