Hi everyone,

I have two guinea pig boys - Oliver and Evan. Oliver is about 4 years old and Evan is 9 months old.

Luckily they're both healthy lil boys.

However, I just discoverd tonight that Oliver has a lil spot on his lower eyelid. It could be a scratch but it looks like a pimple with a whitehead on it up close. Does anyone know what this could be? It's not actually on his eye, just on the inner part of his eyelid. I had a slightly/gently pull down his eyelid to take a picture of it.

He's behaving normally, playing, eating and drinking normally and doing his business just fine. His personality seems the same as always so he doesn't seem like he's in any pain.

Any insight would be great. I'm going to contact his vet in the morning

My boy Billy had one, and the vet popped it. They gave him antibiotics, but combined with a tooth issue it really messed up his tummy. Good luck, I hope there are more comments soon.

It looks like a little infectious spot to me. Please have it seen by a vet!

Hey! Thanks for the feedback guys. I really appreciate it.

I took Oliver to the vet and the long of the short of it is that he's going to be just fine. Here's a little backstory:

About a month ago Evan, my 10 month old guinea pig was jumping on Oliver and humping him - because of Evan's age and that he wants dominance. Well Oliver used to be playful about it but he started snapping at Evan. They'd gotten along for the last 8 months since they were first introduced but when Oliver got upset I tried to get Oliver away from Evan. Well when I picked him up Oliver jumped out of my hands. He'd never done that before so I was unprepared for it and he fell about a foot and lost mobility in his hind legs. Feeling awful, guilty, etc. I rushed him to the vet. She took x rays, put him on antibiotics, inflammatory medicines, etc. Nothing was broke but his lower back was bruised and he needed to heal. Over that next week I kept the boys completely separated, nursed Oliver back to health, and within a week he started using his back legs again.

I tried to reintroduce them slowly by supervising them when I put them together for about an hour a day and they were still having issues.

The vet then suggested that I neuter Evan. Normally I wouldn't and I never neutered a pig before but Evan's libedo was getting out of control. So I got Evan neutered and after 5 days later I tried to reintroduce them again. The vet said Evan was healing nicely. The boys did great being together for a week but then yesterday Evan started fighting Oliver for dominance again, chattering his teeth at Oliver when he just tried to eat hay and food. I didn't think they actually fought but they must have because after I made the post about Oliver's eye, I noticed that his ear was scratched too. So I took Oliver to the vet and he got a nosebleed. The eye thing, the ear and nosebleed was all on the same side so Evan must have went after him.

So after lots of stress, Oliver going through a lot and many, many trips to the vet that cost a lot, I have the wall of silence up and they're separated. ☹

These are the boys. The long haired with a black patch of hair is Evan. The white/tan one is Oliver

I had 2 piggies Boris and Bailey and they lived together for a while. But then they started to fight and Boris got a bad bite to the neck. Following this we separated them by dividing their cage in half. Their cage was split using wire panels so they could see, hear and sniff one another. They lived like this very happily and used to miss each other if one was out to play or for hugs. Hope this helps.xx
