Had the gruesome twosome out for some floor time. Popped out and returned to this...

Now I hadn't spotted the humps on the left. I thought they were under the blue fleece in the right hand corner, like this...

But no. I had a small heart attack when I realised where they were!

Can you see the humps! I was so close to squishing them when I stepped in! Horrors.

Naughty piggies... Glad you realized on time!
I must admit that at first it made me laugh because I didn't think in the dangerous part... :mal:

(Piggies be like "I aim to misbehave" :)))

I thought they must have escaped completely!
Well Timmy did that the other day, when old clever clogs here decided to give them more room by making a 3 sided pen, using the sofa as the 4th side. Somehow I managed to do it in such a way that I created a really inviting funnel that went down the side of the sofa and away to freedom. Timmy took roughly a nanosecond to spot his escape route and disappear. I know some people have them free range (and I haven't completely ruled out the possibility of ditching the pen) but I hadn't planned for it quite yet!

My 2 freerange and it is lovely - I feel we get so much more from them than if they were penned all the time. It works for us because our boys aren't cuddly but when they are out and about they come over to us for a quick scrunch and to tell us what edible delights they are due - their communication with us really is amazing. It means we feel we aren't missing out on the cuddles.

How does it work regarding puddles on the floor...? The pen we do floor time in is big enough for us to sit in with them (there is a photo of me asleep in it last week, I nodded off after a night shift...) but it isn't the same as having them freerange.

Am sure we had some puddles on the carpet in the early days when we didn't really know what we were doing. However, we know where they like to sleep so put some measures in place. They use our big leather chair as a giant hidey so have lined the floor under it with puppy pads. We also have a box with a door cut in it that is lined with puppy pads and filled with hay and we use their hay filled, pad lined, pet carrier as well. Barney loves to sleep in the floor length curtains so, again, puppy pads underneath - basically the trick is to have plenty of covered, puppy pad lined options scattered around the room for them to hop in. They are very good and only occasionally pop a little poop out so I keep a hand vac handy. One thing you do have to accept is that you end up with hay literally everywhere. We stopped calling the hoover a hoover years ago - it is now known as the baling machine! We also have their run and hutch in the lounge that they have constant access to and where they get their veg, nuggets, water and daily fresh hay so there is incentive for them to go back in. They get locked up at night and if we are out for more than a couple of hours. Luckily we don't have any accessible wires for them to destroy and they aren't chewers so the furniture is safe. They come out at approx. 8am for breakfast and take themselves back to their hutch for 9pmish.

Wow, that sounds cool! I'd worry we would lose them under the coffee table or something mind you. I might not be tidy enough for that...

As for the coffee table - so long as you can get puppy pads underneath it shouldn't matter - they will eventually come out for food!

Someone, mentioning no names... (Timmy)... has peed all over the sofa cushion. Grrr. Any suggestions on what will stop it stinking? I put bleach on the carpet when they missed the rug but I have a bleachproof carpet. I don't think my sofa would like me for bleach. Although I hate my sofa...

Argh what a scary situation! I didn't see the humps in the photo, until I read about them and looked again. What a good job you noticed in time! Naughty pair. x

Very pesky piggies!

They look very cute in the 2nd photo
