Well he has just bitten my finger really badly. He almost pierced the skin :(

He used to lick and nibble at me. Nothing painful or whatever but now they have turned into painful bites and he will bite my hand for some reason if I put it near his head. He will clamp on and pull at what he has hold of.

What can I do to stop this?

Try blowing on him when he does that. That is what I do when my piggies bite me. They do not like to be blown at.

Put a flavour on your fingers that they don't like and also shriek. I know it may sound silly, but if he associates your finger with bad flavour and nasty loud noises then it will become less good to chomp it.

My Hazelnut became a biter when he hit his teenage months. I tried gently tugging his fur at the back of the neck (apparently mummy piggies do this to discipline their bubs) and that had some success but still too much biting. I then tried gently blowing in his face each time and that eventally stopped him except for one instance. To this day he continues to nip your finger if you get it right in front of his face, so we just started avoiding that. However, he enjoys his chin rubs. As he got faster at nipping my finger than I was at getting my finger on his chin, I started training him to respond to the phrase "chin rub". So now, we are at a point where I keep asking "chin rub Hazelnut?" while slowly bringing my finger closer until he lifts his head exposing his chin and then all is well.

fudge is a biter, although I cant get close enough unless I have hold of her to see if she would bite willingly my fingers, she is a cow for getting into a strop and using her teeth to get her own way with me, but I just told her to stop, litterally I turned her round to face me and told her off like she was a naughty little girl and she stopped :red makes no sense at all. I dont trust her now so keep fingers well out the way when she gets stroppy.

I always was under the impressions that piggys rarely bit? Ive never had a pig bite me... All i can say is the same as other members just shriek really loudly. The way your pig is biting And holding on sounds really agressive if it were a dog it would be classed as a mauling. Id maybe have a visit to the vet to rule out any illnesses that could mean your pigs in pain hence why its biting when being held? Sorry i cant be of more help.. Xx

Thats a little exaggeration to class it as a maul, a lot of young pigs will test things with teeth - hence fudge as I had her from 3 weeks old and despite regular handling she went through a phase of trying to bite. Only crystal once when she got really moody in my arms who I felt teeth but didnt bite has been the other pig that has used their teeth, fudge has form and has tried a few times. Although flash once thought my hand in the pen while I was cleaning out was veg and tested, lupin also nearly did this yesterday when I held the corn cob for them. These little nips are not bites, the ones fudge has tried were and as sprout is a youngster, about the same age as fudge when she got to her most stroppy years I assume this is just him testing his bounderies rather than attacking little eskimo which a maul would be.

Arghh the little :x

Turns out he did break the skin, I just didn't notice at the time. I have a scab where his teeth went in and it is all bruised underneath.

It's so strange, he never used to do it. He would just nibble and lick at my hands. Not at all painful and quite sweet. I have noticed that he has grown a lot recently and his grease gland is started to develop grease.
I don't ever remember that happening with McMac or Momo. They were always well behaved, if a little fidgety. Even now when I cut McMacs nails he will just sit there quite happily on my lap and chill out. Sprout on the other hand is wriggling about and getting all aggiatated rolleyes

I will try the blowing air on him thingy, hopefully that will do the trick

Dutch always goes to bite me if I'm clipping nails or checking his bits! He's my friendliest out if the two, will love to come for cuddles or wheeks to be picked up and put in the run, but, he's so over confident he will tell me when he's had enough with a nip! Drawn blood twice in 4 months! I guess he's just moody!

My new boy Reg will nip gently at my jumper or the skin (if the jumper or t-shirt isnt covering me where I am holding him - its his way of telling me to put him beck in his cage.
