Hi all,

noticed this on my skinny pigs foot when going to clean her nails. Had a look around and it looks like it's either spurs or bumblefoot. Can anyone hear chime in on to what they think it might be?

(Also the flash makes the colours a bit weird, hear nails aren't actually that yellow or her feet that red)

Thanks in advance.

Hi! That is a spur.

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply! Glad it's not bumblefoot :D .

I'll check out what treatment if any is necessary, or do you know what the best course of action is?

Leave it be; it only needs addressing if it is growing out sideways as a spur that could catch and rip the skin. It is just a harmless hard skin growth. Spurs are very common in guinea pigs and can in the vast majority just be left without any interference.
If you have to get a spur cut, I would recommend to ask a vet or an experienced nurse to do it for you.

Cutting back too close to live skin is extremely painful and can damage the foot. The spur is also likely to grow back.

Definitely a spur! No harm there unless it's catching on things. :)
