Hi All,

Just wanted to check this is normal for a new pair. They previously lived in a hutch with 6 girls in, now it is the two of them. They seem to be bickering some of the time, and one is doing a lot of rumblestrutting! She will also take food from the other, despite there being lots scattered around. She will also chase the other off, push her a little.

I have had them since Sunday, does this sound like they are sorting out the pecking order? I have seen them sat next to each other too, and have shared things well. Would two of each help? Food bowls and water bottles etc?

Thanks everyone

This all sounds fairly normal to me, our girls go through phases of bickering over everything, and next minute they're best of friends again. Also, in general, whatever somepig else is eating is far nicer and more interesting than any other food, so don't worry about that! Two of everything might help to ease the arguments sometimes though... :)

Thanks everyone - I have read how it sounds worse to us human ears than it actually is - the poor girl who was on the brunt of it though, felt so sorry for her. They look like butter wouldn't melt but can be proper little madams!

Done a full cage clean tonight so have moved things around a little, will see if that helps any. Will get additional bowls etc. Will both take food from me, had a wheek yesterday from one and today from the other, such a happy sound :) Hopefully soon I can have first cuddles - a bit nervous of frightening them one in particular is still very nervous, day at a time, there is no rush.

I so hope we have sorted out - apart from an occasional bicker not a single rumblestrut or chasing off for the last couple of days! They appear to be playing a lot nicer :) The only real difference is another under cover area and I have removed the snuggle-oo for now - but now with the additional undercover bit they both settle in the same one - either ends of it but at least they are sharing nicer - happy home all being well

Thanks for the reassurance everyone - lots for me to learn!
