As most of you probably know I lost my little bubble yesterday due to a nasty chest infection :( I miss her very much already!
Anyway I expected squeak to be a bit quiet for a few days but she hasn't been! She's been her usual happy self.. Constantly squeaking like usual (hence the name!) for food....greedy guts! She doesn't seem to have been affected one little bit.. anyone have any ideas why this might be? This has shocked me because they were both so close! Obviously when I'm ready I might look into finding little squeak a friend but for the moment she seems perfectly happy!

Aside from that... I've just noticed this is my 1000th post! Woo!

Could it be that she does not know Bubble is not coming back? I wonder if she thinks she is away but will be back.

As you had to separate them, I agree with piggy fan that may be Squeak hasn't realised yet.

I would just keep an eye on her for any changes in behaviour.

I am sure that she will grieve in her own time and in her own way. Not all piggies become sad xx

I'm so sorry you lost Bubble, but pleased that Squeak seems ok.

We had two greyhounds- Jack & Kizzie and when Jack died we worried that Kizzie would pine for him as she is so timid and Jack seemed to give her confidence. Anyway, we needn't have worried- Kizzie was and still is, absolutely fine, infact she never showed any signs of missing Jack at all. I wonder what goes on in their minds sometimes. :)

I am very sorry for your loss and glad for you that you do not have to deal with the additional distress of a pining piggy. Like humans, piggies react differently. Especially if they have already been separated from their friend.

It would still be good if you were looking at the possibility of dating Squeak at a rescue within reasonable reach that offers this service in due time; with her being happy in herself, at least you don't have the need to rush and can do so when it is right for you. Ring around and start with the one that offers the biggest choice of potential mates, either sows or neutered boars of any age.
Letting a piggy choose always makes for a good relationship and many smiles and laughs for you! While some piggies get on well on their own, they are usually much happier with the stimulating company of their own kind. I have always got another great love or devoted friendship for my bereaved piggies out of a dating trip!
Here is the constantly updated map of Piggy Bank vetted and recommended guinea pig rescues of good standard and practice. https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=209994852075231951564.0004b8fd9391b4257d8eb&msa=0

When the time is right I'm definitely going to look into finding squeak a friend. I think she would be much happier with a friend to be honest. Either a neutered boar or female like you said. Do all those rescues on that map offer dating, or just some of them?

The vast majority of these rescues will allow you to bring your own piggy. Not all have neutered boars. It is always advisable to ring around as rescues usually have more piggies in their care than on their website, anyway. Please be aware that it can take a few days, or a few tries to for them to come back; rescue people are usually very busy, and things can be quite hectic at times!

If you want to pm me with your location, I will be able to give you recommendations.

I've sent you a pm

I am so sorry for your loss. I had the same worry as I lost my little girl but my other 2 seem to be fine up to yet. It has only been a week for mine so it may change x
