Like a lot of you I am determined to source the best hay possible :))

I bought a 5 bale pack of hay from the Dust Free Hay company; 2 soft and 3 stalky. I didn't realise just how harsh the stalky hay was. I use a cat litter tray for their hay and it works brilliantly. However two of them like to burrow and I am worried about them damaging their eyes on it.

Anybody else got experience of this hay? Do you think I would be better off using the stalky hay for just the rabbits and the soft hay for the whirlygigs? I am thinking about best for teeth wearing but also really worried about the risk of injury

It is seriously dust free though! I will buying from them again ... just need to make sure I am buying the right one

Haven't tried it but I'm thinking it is becoming a must now why does everybody get 5 boxes, can you not get lower amounts..

Can I justify more hay... hmm... how can I use up my hay?! *Runs down stairs to give the bunny some good hay*... ok so it might only take me a year?

I also have orchard grass coming next week, not to mention the timothy hay I already have rolleyes.

I've also got some coarse/stalky hay from Dust Free Hay and agree that it is very strong, similar to straw. I keep all my pigs hay in hay racks but mix it with the soft hay and some Oxbow Orchard Grass, so while there is those harsh strands to really work their teeth it's not as risky as just giving stalky hay...if you see what I mean!

Well the decision has been made for me .... the pigs have decided they only like the softer stuff .... and the rabbits have decided they only like the stalkier stuff. At least none of it will go to waste - just means I am going to have to order some more sooner than planned as the soft stuff will run out sooner than the stalky stuff .... more storage space required then ***rolls eyes ***

Glad it's sorted...isn't it nice when they solve your dilemmas all by themselves? :))
