I think, although i have not heard hooting before, but he is definately making a noise i would describe as hooting! Sounds a bit like something is loose in his nose when he is breathing.

He is eating normal and acting normal so hopefully we can sort him out.

I already lost a piggy before to heart problems, dont want to go through that again but hey ho...

We are booked in to the vets at 4.50 tonight.

:(

Pop a little bit of vicks on the end of his nose just until you can get to the vets.

If you're still very worried just whisk him down there - vets are usually very understanding about it.

Best of luck!

Make sure that it is not a blocked nose first. I thought that Taffy was hooting once or twice, but then she made an almighty sneeze and everything was back to normal!

unfortunately i am at work now until i take him so i cant do either, and Stan is rather timid so i dont like to chase him round and round his home just for my peace of mind so i have decided to take him, i can also have him all over serviced while i am there!:)) May as well make the most of the opportunity.

He is such a beautiful sweet lad, just very shy, completely opposite to Oscar lol he is just a mental nutcase :)) I hope he is ok x

We can compare notes when Jeffy gets back from the vets tonight too! Good luck!

Poor Stan, hope he will be ok. Let us know how he gets on. Is the noise happening all the time and is it like a clicking noise almost?

ha ha ok, except you will probably understand 'vet speak' and i dont!

If you don't understand, ask! If you had a vet degree, they wouldn't be seeing you would they lol

Seriously though, if they do say something and you come home afterwards and go....wtf was that, just drop me a pm or something. If I can't tell you, I have 30 odd qualified, and several more almost qualified vet friends I can ask lol

so...weve been.

The vet i saw couldnt find anything.

She checked his nose for mucous, checked his teeth, checked his weight, listenend to his heart, felt his tum for lumps or bumps, even put a needle in hes belly to see if he had excess fluid in his tummy as he looked like a big inflated ball when he was on the vets table.

i think he was just that scared (hes a very nervous piggy) that he just stood still didnt even look around I'm not even sure he was breathing, and when i looked at his feet they were like clenched so his nails were going under and so were his back ones, looked like everything was tensed making him a funny shape.

Anyway, vet couldnt see anything and suggested damping the hay and that it was maybe dust or something causing allergy symptoms.

Fingers crossed he will be ok, dont they worry you :{

Glad he's been checked over, just keep a close eye on him. Hope he gets back to his normal self soon. They can be a worry, sometimes it feels like one thing after another... Give Stan a chin rub for me x

awww thanks i will do, he loves his chin rubs x

Aww only just managed to get on the forum to catch up with today's threads. Glad to read Stan was checked out and is well xx>>>

He has done nothing but eat since i got home!

It cost me £19.50 for the small animal check up, but i dont care it was worth it, she did give him a good going over.

£22.49 at my vets for consult - always costs a fortune but we can't put a price on there life's.

Glad Stan is ok :)! x

I hope his hooting has stopped now!

They don't half scare you, don't they :)) since William passed away Alan & Clive are under scrutiny every time I pick them up. They wiggle and squiggle out of it as if to say 'muuuuuuuum what are you doing?!' :)):))

I am glad that it is nothing serious. It is always better to check it out than wait fro too long and worry yourself sick!
