Star gave us a scare last night. Don't know what she did but we thought she had wrenched her neck again like last year. Was struggling to walk properly, exactly the same as last year, but she was eating normally. I decided to try something, a little bit of gentle manipulation/massage similar to the way I work Sue's neck when she traps a nerve. It has seemed to work and Star is moving normally again this morning, to the point of having a mooch around the living room etc. Indeed it seems like last night never happened.

Has anybody else considered massage / chiropractise with piggy ailments. Before stones are thrown my experience has come from sports massage but see no reason why it shouldn't work on other animals.

When Marble was poorly my boyfriend used to massage her and it seemed to help her through her pain.

I dont see why it wouldn't i think a lot of simple problems can be sorted yourself at home :)

I'd have probably done the same - you are a fantastic daddy to your piggies and sometimes, we know what is best for our fur babies.
Hope Star is 'behaving' now and not giving you any more scares :))

Gave them a treat of some spinach about half an hour ago and Star was first up the bars wheeking. She is now snuggled on the hay slowly munching. I must also report that Astro is being quite attentive. Last night Astro, Twinkle and Cosmos effectively penned Star into a corner by snuggling up, so she had no choice but to rest and not move about.

So glad little Star is okay.

We have a vet that does accupuncture. He's done accupuncture on a pig with fantastic results

My friend does a special type of massage on nervous horses and we have used it before on the piggies. I sometimes do it all little on Nibbles when I brush him to help his arthritis. It really does seem to help. Combined with a heatpad he has improved a lot. When it warms up I'm going to try water therapy. I don't see the harm in it and if it helps then why not?

Glad Star is feeling better

So pleased that star is ok now, what a strange thing to happen.... Talking of therapies has anyone used reiki on their piggys?

So glad Star is ok now. I don't see how gentle massage could hurt and it obviously did the trick for Star. Hope she doesn't have any more problems. :)

I have spoken to a friend who practises Reiki and is happy to receive referrals if anyone wants to try it. She has used it on her own cat so is happy to practise on animals.
