back to the vet today. Had a steroid injection as a last attempt.. She is really struggling with her breathing.

She is hardly eating - only a bit of spinach and some grass. Have been syringe feeding for a few days. A few tiny poos.vet said should be improvement in next 24 hours but if not have an appointment at 6.15 tomorrow to make a decision to put her to sleep.

So scared right now:(

Rushed her back last Friday. She had lost 130g in 5 days... And was really puffing. She is on 0.15 of baytril twice a day. 0.2 ranitidine twice a day and 0.3 metacam once a day. She had started eating a bit and putting on weight but last night after syringe feeding her I put her back in her cage and she could hardly walk she was puffing so bad.
Had an appointment for tomorrow but managed to get her seen just now and vet said her lungs are so muffled and have her a shot as a last attempt. She went in the garden and had a nibble of some grass and I've put her favourite veg in her cage but she just lies in her house.

I don't know what to do:(

This was her when I came down this morning.. Facing the corner of her cage all puffed up:( took a heartbreaking pic to show the vet, but she was facing the corner of her carry cage thing all the way so didn't really need to show her the puffed up pic. Also took a pic of her poo to show her... It's so small and ribbon like:(

Do I persevere with medication etc or would it be kinder to let her go over the bridge?

she looks so sad and fed up:(

If it were my piggy I would keep fighting and if the vet thinks her lungs sound congested you could ask for a diuretic like Lasix maybe. It would help ease her breathing.
Feed her mashed pellets and you could even make hay and veggie smoothies. Keep her warm and medicated to make her comfortable. Keep her very well hydrated, my vet did subq fluids (but she didn't have fluid in her lungs so idk)
I knew my piggy had quit fighting when she wouldn't even swallow what I was syringe feeding her, so if you need to make that call I know how hard it is.
But if you want to keep fighting make sure you push for everything possible to get her better. Also sometimes Baytril isn't enough for pneumonia and causes toxicity maybe the vet would try something else.
Good luck, lots of hugs and prayers.

Have they tried a diuretic?

Which part of south wales are you in?

Just rung the vet. She doesn't even want to eat her mushed up pellets. I am taking her in after my husband comes home from work. Just told my son what's happening and he is in tears. Don't know whether to let him have a cuddle and say goodbye? I don't think we will be coming home:(

Be sure to ask about a diuretic and you were syringe feeding her the pellets right?
Even if you don't come home with her I know if it were me I would feel much better about the decision having asked about all possible options. Good luck!

Yea syringe feeding and watering. Just put her back in her cage and she is gasping. Heartbreaking. Snowflake just keeps looking at her and nudging her but star isn't interested.

I am so sorry :( Please make sure if you have to make that final decision you ask the vet to give her a whiff of gas beforehand. I lost my Petal to pneumonia last November, it's heartbreaking xx

I'm so sorry, I was going to suggest diuretic too but it sounds like she is shutting down. Hugs.

I am so very sorry. I think you made the right choice. Huge hugs x x

I am so sorry about beautiful Star.
But you made the right decision for her and did the kindest thing.

I'm absolutely devestated. Can't stop crying:( my 6 year old son is still awake and is so upset bless him that star couldn't come home. Even the vet was nearly in tears because my little boy had said She would be able to fix her, and she got upset because she couldn't help anymore.

Sad sad day:(
