Pound Shilling & Pig
Adult Guinea Pig
Anyone else brushing their teeth more often because the dentists are shut?
I’m a little worried because I’ve started getting pains every now and then in my tooth when I eat or drink something warm/cold. The tooth already has a filling in it...I hope it doesn’t fall out.Anyone else brushing their teeth more often because the dentists are shut?

Sorry you're finding it tough. It is so eerie to see places so quiet. I'm gonna get some aveeno hand cream. My hands are so sore at the moment. When I used it a couple of years ago I thought it was great stuff. It carries on working even after washing hands so you don't have to put it on every time you've washed your hands. I think it contains something extracted from oats.Going into our normally bustling town is very upsetting. It’s like a ghost town and the few people you do encounter are in a very somber mood.
I live with my Mum (who is in her 70s) and we can’t get hold of Sainsbury’s to register for a priority delivery slot for love nor money. So, I have to brave the big, wide world when necessary. I don’t think Mum quite grasps the seriousness of things when she gets upset about having “no white chocolate Magnums in” or me not telepathically knowing about things she hasn’t put on the shopping list. Oh and I’ve discovered it’s wise to phone a pharmacy to check they have a prescription medication in stock to avoid going around several places.
Oh and offering to get some food for a self-isolating neighbour = a one woman mission to find the only place in town that sells eggs (a wonderfully overpriced farm shop).
Don’t even mention my hands that now look 90 instead of 40. The constant washing has turned them into cracked, scaly appendages that even the toughest hand cream can’t save.

I've just heard that a friend of mine has died. He was in his 80s and suffering from cancer, but he tested positive for coronovirus which hastened his death.
I was feeling less anxious today, but this has knocked me back again.
I hope his wife is ok.

I think it's that situation where you're feeling so stressed that you either laugh or cry. I think at the moment its understandable you're doing both xxI was walking this morning and when I saw another human being coming from opposite direction, I got paranoid. I stood aside until that person passed me by then moved along with my walking.
I am also experiencing both laughter and crying happening at the same time. I might need to see a therapist for this ridiculous occurrence. Who will think I am mentally well?
Laughing and crying at the same time is a perfectly normal response to this type of situation.
Hang on in there folks - it won't last forever

I’m so sorry.I have just heard from my mum that my great auntie who has been battling cancer for some time has diedAlso my mums cousin has died from a stroke a few days ago
obviously we can’t go to the funeral as it’s 100 miles away in Nottingham plus my parents are self isolating so I can’t even give my mum a hug

I have tried both Aveeno & O’Keefe’s Working Hands cream but they both sting like anything for 10 mins. The pharmacist suggested actually washing my hands in moisturiser but you feel compelled to use soap to “feel clean.”Sorry you're finding it tough. It is so eerie to see places so quiet. At least the fancy farm shop seems to have eggs. I bet the pigs would love to be let loose amongst all that luscious veg. Apparently they wish me to order a box but I’ve told them we’ll stick to the cheap stuff whilst I can still get supplies.HUGS
Eggs seem to have disappeared, sadly!
Rang up my local pharmacy for allergy tablets as Sainsbury's hasn't had any left since the raids, nor have online suppliers.
Sore knuckles here, too...
Before I leave the house, I always say “wish me luck as I brave the apocalypse.”We have taken to calling them zombies...
Use something like e45. It’s an emollient and is perfectly suitable. I used to have terrible eczema and infection control/ occupational health gave me that to use instead of the hibiscrub we were using at the time.I have tried both Aveeno & O’Keefe’s Working Hands cream but they both sting like anything for 10 mins. Our local supermarkets are operating a one in one out policy with 20 customers allowed in at any one time. The floors have 2 metre markings and staff are wearing gloves. They’re also disinfecting trolley handles between each person. Not impressed at all with my local Sainsbury's - still no measures or protections in place... I really pity the workers who are exposed to this all day long!
Far too many stressed people in the shop today, which has made distancing impossible - not helped by too many Covidiots ignoring it completely: being on the phone right in the middle of an aisle, spending 5 minutes staring at what little chicken there is to be had (the first in two weeks) with a queue of increasingly exasperated shoppers forming a circle around her and then not even taking anything...![]()

Thankfully we'd brought gloves with us and I sent hub out to the car as soon as he had got everything he wanted for the weekend to ensure he had as minimal exposure as possible under the circumstances; and finished the piggy veg shop in peace.
OK, so I have stepped up bio-security one step further and have spent half an hour of wiping down any plastic packaging we are going to use within three days before putting it away and then doing the rest of the disinfecting routine starting the with the car and ending at the kitchen sink.
I don't suffer from anxiety but I don't have any desire whatsoever having me or hub ending up in hospital if I can help it; neither of us are the youngest anymore!

Well I fell apart last night trying to set up the breadmaker! Being unable to go anywhere or do anything because of asthma, being told I'd get a laptop for work and then the next day finding out I wouldn't - that was the night Boris said don't leave the house unless you absolutely have to, so they reassigned the laptops available to people with higher priority jobs than mine!I had to question myself whether I was going mental.
I found myself laughing but felt tears coming out of no where along with worries about the future as I feel this tremendous uncertainty about the future.
So sorry for your losses, especially at this timeI have just heard from my mum that my great auntie who has been battling cancer for some time has diedAlso my mums cousin has died from a stroke a few days ago
