It's been a little over 4 weeks since Bailey died and we've been trying to get Miss Piggy a new friend but haven't been very successful :(. We had originally planned to go with a fairly close rescue to sow date so left it a week for Miss Piggy to grieve then called the rescue back and booked to go the following Saturday. Then the night before we were meant to go the lady called up to say we wouldn't be able to do it the Saturday due to a family issue, which obviously we were absolutely fine with because I would never expect someone to put the rescue in front of something so important.

So we gave it a week and still having not heard back from the rescue my parents agreed we could get another two: so we would rehome one and then get the other from the rescue (which I was soooo happy with). So off to Gumtree I trotted (aren't really any other rescues close enough and pet shops are a no no) and started to send off a few replies to the adds that were suitable (which weren't massive amounts as most seemed to either be boys or babies being sold to make money) and although I didn't get a reply back from quite a few I did get a couple back saying they had already been rehomed or wouldn't let them go without the unneutered male partner (or in one advert that i didn't bother with a rabbit :// ). But after a couple of days did text one lady who said they still had a few girls still looking for homes so I was really happy and text a couple of hours later to only get a text back saying that they had already gone. So off back to gumtree and yeterday sent another message literally minuites after it came onto Gumtree and although they had guinea pigs left there were only two little boys. Again back to gumtree I went and again sent a text to another person today advertising two month old babies asking if I could have the little girl. I got the text back and was estatic to see the girl was still avaliable and I could have her so an hour after they sent it I sent a very happy text back explaining how relieved I was to have found a new pig for my remaining girl. I then got another text back saying that unfortunately a couple had just been to pick up the other girl and had taken both 8.... They were quite apologetic and offered either of the remaining two boys (which slightly bugged me as they obviously weren't bothered about their pigs going on to be bred) but obviously I declined as there is no way I would want to risk Miss Piggy with a pregnancy (especially at three).

I'm not giving up quite yet and hopefully should get the call from the rescue soon enough but it is just so disheartening when you get your hopes up thinking you've finally found a new girl and already have the image of the new piggie sitting with Miss Piggy in your head (I get a little too into it :)) lol) to only then be told it isn't gonna happen. I know it's probably gonna take a little while but I really just want to get my old Miss Piggy back and have her sitting happily with a friend. It almost seems like we're not suppose to have one as every way we seem to go it isn't going like I thought it would. Thanks for reading, just sort of needed to get that out my system. Hopefully things will turn around soon and we'll have our numbers back up from 1 :)).

Hang in there, your special little piggie friend for Mis Piggy is out there waiting for her somewhere. Have you also looked for a neutered boar?

I would give the rescue another ring just to let them know you still want a piggy friend for Miss Piggy. Sometimes getting round to everything in balancing a busy rescue/homelife is not easy and a gentle reminder might jump you to the top of the list.

If you do end up getting a pig from a non-rescue source please quarantine for 2 weeks in an area well away from Miss Piggy - it could save you another load of heartbreak if the newbie turns out not to be completely healthy.

Thanks :) and yep we have had our eye out for a little neutered boy but outside of rescue they seem quite hard to come by.

Awww dont give up .... that special piggy(s) is out there .... you just have to find her / them :))
Keep going...

Thank you :) just seems to be a lot harder than I thought it would be and it's only made harder by seeing miss on her own :(.

I was gonna call again the other day but because it sounded quite serious and it's the ladie's husband my mum said not to and I'd hate to put more pressure on her if she's going through a difficult time. I think I'll give it another couple of days and see about calling again.

And thank you I had been planning for that but was just wondering does it have to be totally different rooms? Or can it be same rooms but different cages? Or even one week in different rooms and the second week in the same room? Thought I'd get some cheeky questions in there :)).

Hang in there-you'll find Miss Piggy a friend(s) soon<3<3<3
If you want to, try giving the rescue another call-Good luck!xx:)

Thank you :). And welcome to the forum :)).

Hang in there!

I would give the rescue another call; rescue people are usually very busy with having to cope with lots of things all at once.

If you are looking for neutered boars, this rescue in Rugby (where my new boy Terfel comes from) has a neutered boar policy and is prepared to rehome further afield, provided that a piggy train (transport) can be organised. We have even managed to get a couple a of girls from Rugby as far as Belfast (via Glasgow) with the help of the forum once, so it is not as impossible an idea as you may think!

Buddy here is ready to go to a good home.

Thank you i'll probably give the rescue a call in a couple of days and see how things are going. I didn't think of going further out and doing a piggy train, might have to look into that ;) would love to have a little fella with her. And Buddy is georgous but left me with tears in my eyes as his face is so much like Bailey's was.
