Static Lice/hay Mite Treatment?

I'm looking for a way to treat these pesky hay mites without bathing... Lice n easy shampoo is great for this but the weather is too cold here to bathe, I'm very reluctant to do it.

Is there any other way to get rid of them?

Ivermectin (xeno) is usually used; or a two pronged approach between ivermectin and lice'n'easy in persistent cases.

I've heard ivermectin doesn't kill them as they don't suck the blood? If this is false then that's great news, I have some in I can use!

Ivermectin is not as effective with hay mites as the egg cases are fixed to the hairs and not burrowed into skin. But it is still the most effective active ingredient against any mites and the only one that is not applied as a shampoo - which was what you have been asking for. Any vet will prescribe ivermectin against skin parasites.

I have the pharmaq 1% dropper, does it need to be xeno or will this do?

What type of hay do you use?
I have not had any mite /parasite issues since I started using prepacked Alfafa king Thimathy hay

Oxbow timothy, but I buy the 22kg bulk boxes which is less filtered than smaller packs

Oxbow Timothy hay should not come with hay mites as it is imported from the US & should be sterile. Are you sure they are hay mites & not lice? Do they get any other hay or are they kept on woodshavings? Sometimes they have crawlies in those.

Yes they are hay mites/static lice, I've dealt with running lice before and this is not that. They are tiny specs sitting half way down the hair shaft that don't move, they look dark brown on white hair and white on black hair. They are kept on fleece and do not get any other hay. I applied ivermectin 2 days ago and it does look like many have come off, so I'm continuing the course and hopefully it will work.
