What do you think is the best way to sterilise the mouth pieces of bottles?

Oh I hope you get an answer to this one! I soak mine in Milton and then give them a scrub with a tiny bottle brush meant for tea pot spouts but I worry it just pushes stuff further down the spout mallethead

I think milton (heavily diluted ) should be OK since as I remember it was the only sterilising fluid you didn't have to rinse off when I was sterilising for my children

Never really thought about how long one lasts to be honest. I just replace when they look to be getting worn or start to leak excessively

I thought and could be totally wrong that you could not use milton on stainless steel which is what the mouth peices are,, aren't they?

I put mine in boiling water

I use milton fluid too..if its ok for babies, must be ok for guineas too? I rinse them out afterwards though with water from the kettle.

i use boiling water too, i think the natrual things are the best. and boiling water has NO chemicals, NO risk!

I use milton too, first i clean out with the bottle brush inside the bottle and use the smaller brush for the spout and then soak in milton and then rinse off.

All my bottles and spouts are sparkling. :)

Like some of the others I have been using boiling water up until now.....

so whats milton? where do you get it from as i have been using hot water and small bottle brush...recently had to replace both bottles as they both split

ok thanks i will be trying that now...add to shopping list for tomorrow lol

I use baby sterilising fluid for the bottles, then use a bottle brush and hot water for the spouts. They always seem to get cleaned up ok, if they become unclean-able I chuck them and get a new one

I use Milton for the bottles but I must admit that the spouts go in the dishwasher!

If I remember correctly, the wording on the bottle of Milton is very vague ...something like not leaving Milton in contact with metals 'for long periods of time'. How long is that then?
It reacts with metals (stainless steel more slowly than most other metals) but it's probably worth washing them with something else.

I clean the bottles with vinegar and bicarbonate of soda (well rinsed afterwards, of course!) and the spouts with boiling water.

That's what I've been doing for the past eight years, and it's yet to cause me any problems at all.

I just wash my piggie's bottles out with warm water, a little bit of washing up liquid (but i do make sure i've got it all out afterwards) and an old toothbrush

Milton, where can i get this stuff? I've not seen it before

Well, I tried boiling water today and all the bottles went mis-shapen after about 10 seconds....... !

I always do mine in Milton sterilising fluid, meant for babies bottles etc. I also do the bottles as well as the spouts.

After soaking them in a bucket, I always rinse them and then use a bottle brush on them.

It has always been ok for me. I think if it is ok for human babies, then my gp's must be ok. :))
