Steroids - side effects

Generally steriods are associated with increased appetite and weight gain. I assume this is a guinea pig and not you, but there could be something else going on causing the weight loss.

Yes it's Panda, shes a chunky 1500g 4yr with asthma. She is on .5mg on alternate days. She's been on steroids for about 6 weeks and she's had a loss for the last 2 weeks. What I was hoping was that because she is still eating and doing everything she should be than it could be fluid loss caused by the steroids. Sorry didn't word the first post very well.

How much weight has she lost? She's a big girl and of some of that was fluid a weight loss of less than 5-10% might not be a problem. But it's always worth getting a vet check.

90g in 2 weeks, shes due for a check up on friday anyway so the vet will also weigh her. It's just that I have a very concerned daughter here and anything to put her mind at ease.

My Stella's weight goes up and down by about 100g due to fluid retention. But it's certainly worth getting her checked. I assume she's her normal self and eating well?

Paula

She's her very normal self, getting very excited by food and the grass bowl. Tucking into everything that shes given. I brought some green oat hay today and she's eating that as if she's never been fed before.
