Noticed today that Chunk was really smelly but put it down to the fact that they needed cleaning out. Went to take him out of his carry crate after we had cleaned out the cage to find that he smelt REALLY bad and there was a clump of hard gunk/hair/poo in there with his usual poos. I gave his bottom a good clean with gentle baby wipes and there was some yellow gunk but not much but boy did it smell. Could it have been some shavings that got stuck up there and gone horrid or could it be something else?

He could be impacted, perhaps? :)

I did have a look and a squeeze but nothing much came out. Will have another look tomorrow once he’s calmed down a bit, he wasn’t impressed with being prodded and poked!

It sounds like he could be suffering from impaction, but that the lump of poo came out on its own (you mention that there was a lump of gunk/hair/poo in the cage). Check him again tomorrow and it may be that you need to gently squeeze this out daily.

Will give him a quick clean again tomorrow :tu: he seems to be pooping normally at the minute so fingers crossed it’s cleared!

Poor piggy can’t be very nice can it haha! X

Oddly enough he was fine when I had him out earlier in the day, something must have moved! But my goodness I cannot describe how bad the smell was! :vom:
