Hey I wanted to ask my guinea pig just had surgery and has stitches in his belly now when they take them out do they put them under anesthesia again?

When Betsy had a spay 2 weeks ago the vet stitched her up with absorbable stitches. I would check with your vet to see what sort of stitches (suture material) was used. Betsy's stitches are no longer there and she has a very neat scar.

No they don't need anaesthetic to remove stitches. Did your vet say how long before they are removed? As said above check what type of stitches they are because dissolvable stitches are the usual option for piggies

Vets generally use dissolvable stitches that do not have to be removed. I would assume that you would have been told when to bring her in for stitches removal if that was really necessary.

Please enquire at the clinic if you have concerns.
