Poor piggies, I hope they were stolen because someone 'wanted' them. I hate them being called stock :(

i agree hopefully gone to forever homes fingers crossed
dont like calling animal stock pow-pow

I know but thats probably the case unfortunately.

I have been in a situation where one of my dogs went missing a few years ago so I really do feel the comments made in this thread are unfair.

It doesn't matter whether they were breeding pigs or not (though I agree, "stock" is a horrible word), they may have been well treated loved pigs, you just don't know.

i hope these piggies are found safe and soon if not already found a loving home
no-one would get near ma boys I'm a way overprotective mother :))

What comments do you think are unfair? I don't think any have been unkind to breeders (which is unusual :) ) just people trying to think positively for the poor stolen piggies. I'm sure they were treated well as far as 'stock' goes, but if they were classed as pets I think they might have been treated slightly better. I could be wrong though. I have no experience of breeders at all or their set-ups. The family pet must surely be treated better than a money making womb? Just my opinion.

I think the gist of the comments were that if someone knew she was a breeder they might presume that her piggies were worth stealing ie good specimens, no health problems etc

Sorry....I think I may have mis-read these comments. I apologise.

I'm going through a rough time at the moment, I hope I haven't offended anybody.

Whatever way you look at it, these piggies were stolen which is a criminal act and I would imagine a very upsetting thing to happen to anyone.

Well I certainly would never make a 'pro-breeding' comment anyway but I think you have taken my comment the wrong way. I wouldn't want any animal to be stolen. But if it ever happened to me, and hopefully I will never go through that, I would rather it was because someone wanted my animal rather than someone stealing it to use as live bait or other horrendous acts that some people seem to enjoy.

I honestly didn't for one minute mean I was glad they had been stolen. I'm sorry you interpreted it that way.

Don't worry, I'm not offended, was just worried that I had offended others by not making myself clear to start with.

Hope things are ok, lots of ears here if you need them :)

Thats very kind of you. I'm ok, just been ill since before X-mas with a horrid virus thats done my back in and knocked me for 6...plus my Granddads been on the phone upset to me today. Just a lot for me to deal with, but I am getting there gradually.

Sorry to offload a bit.

No worries, we all need to at some point.

Hope things improve for you. Being ill for that long would suck.

i love this forum. i never was one for forums originally, but i joined a reptile forum in march when i got my first leopard gecko. on that forum, anything you say can and will be held against you :p you fuzzle people are much more understanding of each other. everyone seems happy to help xx>>>

Unfortunately this sort of thing can happen if you keep your guinea pigs in a place where you can't see them all the time. People should be aware of this in general, not just in Leeds. Padlocks can be cut and doors prised open, this is why my guinea pigs live indoors.

We can't make any assumptions as to why they were stolen.

I know of this person from another forum & yes she does breed & she doesn't live far from me given that i'm supposedly 0 miles away. Thankfully my shed locks with a key & by the looks of it, it seems only her longhairs were taken.

It is the welfare of the piggies; who has taken them & why that i am more concerned about NOT the fact that she's bred/breeding them & i hope whoever has them looks after them or returns them.

I don't breed, never have & the word used i don't like but there are good & bad breeders as there are good & bad pet owners. The family pet can be as equally neglected as the breeding pet, it is entirely dependant on the person who looks after the animal :)

Why they were taken is anyones guess but the ad says Lunkas & Perus so i'd think it someone who has an interest in those specific breeds as they aren't the easiest to look after especially if they're in full coat & are wanted to win rosettes.
