We took Holly to see the vet about 3 weeks ago because she had yellow flakes of skin and different hairloss to her normal loss due to cysts. Whilst there we had her given a thorough check up as one of the herd was making stone noises (it turned out that Freya had blood in her urine but no stones). This morning I noticed that there was more dry food pellets left than usual and Holly looked fluffed up. Her skin has improved (ivermectin and baths). She wasn't interested in grass and tried to spit some water back out that we tried to syringe feed her. I watched her urinate at about 9:30pm yesterday but this morning she was struggling to poo - really screaming. It looked like she had bloat so we've been massaging the gas out of her. She has had a go at nibbling some hay since the syringe episode but now she's having trouble with her back legs which don't seem to be working. Our usual vet doesn't work Wednesday's but I'm not sure what is really wrong with Holl to know whether she can last until tomorrow morning when our vet is back in. Does anyone have any ideas?

@Countrylass If you think she looks bloated then it's probably that causing the issues. Being bloated can put them off food as they are in too much pain to eat and they can feel full.

Most vets are able to deal with bloat. I've had to use an emergency vet on a few occassions for bloat and they have been fine dealing with it. I would recommend going to the vet today, as they can prescribe gut medication that will help her recover.

:agr: You need to source another vet that can see her, these symptoms can't wait. Have you tried the vet locator at the top of the forum?

Please see another vet ASAP!

Spitting out food or water means that there is a blockage somewhere. You cannot wait until tomorrow.

Since the refusal to have the syringe water Holly has been eating, albeit slower than usual although she is getting faster. She is back to snatching her favourite food out of my hand when I offer it and is currently eating hay. Her back legs are not working so we have an appointment with the vet tomorrow morning.
