Hi there
Just wondering if anyone knows how i can stop my pig scratching the cut above his eye. The other day he managed to cut the skin above his eye with his back claws. I have cleaned to cut but as it scabs he keeps scratching it and has pulled the fur out around it. Its been bleeding quite badly and i have cleaned it with antiseptic and put some kamillosan cream on it to keep it moist. He seems well in himself and is eating normally.I have treated him for mites in case he has them and cut his claws as low as i dare. I can't see a way of covering the cut as its right above his eye.
Any ideas

Use Bepanthen ointment on the affected area. It is sold in most chemist shops/ supermarket pharmacies.

Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear he's cut himself from scratching!

I second AP's suggestion of Bepanthen. An alternative would be Aloe Vera ointment, which would also soothe the skin.

Thanks for the recommend, got some bepanthen and its working really well, no more scratching and its keeping the scab moist and the inflamation has gone right down..great advice!!
