Hi guys,
How does everyone store their hay? I obviously buy it in the Plastic packing but then what I don’t really like leaving it open and don’t have enough plastic to roll it down? Wanted to keep it as fresh as possible. Tia x

I buy my hay in bales since its a lot cheaper. I just store the bale in a couple of cheap garbage cans I got from a hardware store. Both metal and plastic work well for me and since I'm storing them in my garage and I live in a dry climate, it stays fresh. If you want to store it inside, you can buy a large plastic storage tub to keep it in.

I leave mine in the bag open until there is enough plastic to fold over. The piggies don't seem to mind and it doesn't take long at all until they've eaten enough for me to wrap it over. You could always buy a box or container to put the hay in. Either in the whole bag or empty the bag in.

I buy my hay in large bales. Some gets stored in a large container and the rest get covered with an old curtain to keep it out of the sunlight.

I also buy my hay in plastic packaging. I store it unopened in the cupboard under the stairs which is cool and dark and then when I come to use a bag, I empty it in to a black bin liner. It’s always worked well for me storing it in a cool dark place

l buy mine of the farm their the two string bales and store them in wheeie bins ( 1 to a bin) outside.

I get mine from the farm as @teddymouse but I put mine in black sacks at the farm. I store these in my garage where it is cool and dark and never had a problem with it sweating.

i also buy hay in plastic packaging and i usually just leave it opened in a dark cupboard until there’s enough left to stuff it in a pillow case. if you have a big bale maybe try an old duvet cover? xx
