For some reason, whenever either me or Daddypig gets scratched by Cash our skin comes up in a weird little itchy blotchy rash. Doesn't happen at all with Tango so its not like we're blanket allergic to the piggies/bedding etc.

Its no bother at all and calms down within 30mins but its just really weird how it only happens with Cash.

Anyone else get similar? Or is it just us with our pasty delicate skin :p

I reckon it will be an allergy to the urine on his feet, which you react to when it gets into broken skin. I can't explain why it should be more so with one pig than another though, presumably just some subtle difference in the allergens produced.

If anyone scratches their skin eg finger nail, corner of cardboard box etc etc but doesn;t break the surface to draw blood, they will still exhibit a classic "Wheal and flare" reaction - it;s the body's nautral defence mechanism to a possible invasion of the skin by nasty bugs as a result of trauma.

The fact you have a prominent one when Cash gets skittish but not Tango means that yes, there is an over-developed reaction to what he is carrying under his nails. Its not an allergy yet - and doesn;t mean you both have pasty skin.......just that he excretes/collects a strong amount of "spikey" proteins that induce an immediate response for the pair of you at the skin level.

However it obviously means you ARE both "sensitised" to him so you need to make sure the reactions don;t get ay worse by limiting your exposure to the "wee" monkey in terms of bare skin contact and "beathing in" through your lungs.

I used to have 2 cats, one gave me no reactions at all,but I could not touch my skin or eyes after stoking the other one or else they became red and itchy etc.Dont know why there was a difference.

Thanks folks! Pebble you are the font of knowledge!

Usually whenever I handle the chaps I'm wearing my trusty 'pig jacket' so most of my skin is covered, I'll just have to make sure his feetses aren't touching my skin wherever possible!
