So i have a new piggy, Ellie, who was adopted about 2 weeks ago. whenever i try to bond with her, she will chill on my lap and everything is fine, but i can tell after a while she starts to get anxious and so i figure its time to put her back in her habitat. thats when she starts wheeking like crazy and starts biting me when she realizes shes going back in her home. I'm not holding her improperly, all 4 of her feet are resting on my arm so shes not getting hurt. why this behavior when going back to the cage?

What does she do when she starts to get anxious during lap time? Does she have a friend she shares her cage with?

Someone knowledgable will be able to answer you in the morning. I don’t have a clue what it could be.

One of mine nips when she has to go potty and is not in her cage. (She almost won't go if she's not) might be she's anxious to go back and she doesn't know you're taking her there.

Does sound like the "tweaking" mine do when they want to go back cos they need a wee!

very early days yet, start of lap times for a 2 minutes at a time and gradually build up, also offer some tasty veg so they associate lap time with good things. When they do start to indicate they wish to go home respect their wishes, they will often tell you they need to wee etc... or have had enough, remember they are prey animals so have a strong prey instinct.

make sue she is comfortable on your actual lap and can't run off, for really skittish piggies we have started lap times with having them on us in a cosy at first to help them feel more secure.

Bill and Ted tug at my clothing, and run up to my neck, when they want to go back for a wee. Offer treats when she is out on your lap. Also a snuggle bag may help her feel more secure and good to transport her back to her cage
