Strange Behaviour?

I am new to the forum and I am not sure if I have a problem with one of my piggies Dougal

When I try I take him from the cage he goes mental and runs away, kicks out and I am not sure if he tries to bite me

When I eventually get him out he shakes his head when I stroke it and kicks out when I stroke his back and tries to bite me and he bites my clothes. Now I am sure this is not normal

Do you think he is frightened and scared of me or jst trying to let me know he is the boss. I am worried that he is unhappy
 
He could be scared ,have you just got him from someone who was not caring for him?.

Have a good rummage in his hair for signs of mites,because the irritation from this can make pigs very agitated and snappy.

Do you know where he came from,maybe he was mistreated or dropped by the previous owner.Do you know the age?.If there is no sign of mites,it is probably nervousness.Approach him slowly and talk to him in a soft voice before you put your hand near him.Stroke him,if he will let you,before you pick him up.Lift him slowly and firmly and hold him against you so he feels secure.Keep talking in a low voice,this seems to calm them.Try and stroke him under the chin,this can be calming .You will have to be patient because some pigs take longer to settle than others.

Some piggies are just naturally more nervous than others.
