Strange hard skin area on rump

Our piggy Ron's a 5 year old boar who isn't very well with soreness when pooping(taking him to the vet when it opens tomorrow) but then we spotted a strange black dry patch on his rump...anyone know what it is? I'd attach a pic but don't seem to be able to! First time posting! Thanks in advance

I’m sorry Ron’s poorly - it’s great he’s seeing the vet tomorrow - hopefully they will make him better quickly
Could be hardened grease from his grease gland ?
It could be worth putting some coconut oil on it to soften it anyway and let the Vet look if it hasn’t come off

Hello and welcome to the forum. I’m sorry Ron is poorly.

Guinea pigs have a grease glad about where a tail would be. Some piggies are greasier than others. Like @Roselina has said if you apply a little coconut oil to it and gently rub it the grease dissolves. Sometimes a lot of their hairs come away too. This is fine it’s old hair that has stayed there because it’s stuck by the grease.

If it’s not where the grease gland should be I’d leave it alone until you see the vet. Good
