Strange Looking Toenail

My new rescue piggy has some interesting looking toenails. On his front foot one of them is completely black and quite short (I suspect someone cut it down to the quick at some point) but the one on his back foot is even stranger!

It doesn't seem to be hurting him but it also doesn't seem to be growing out. Any ideas before I take him to the vet?

Sorry, unless we see pictures, we cannot comment. If in doubt, please see the vet. it sounds like the one nail has been pulled off and may have injured quick.
