Me again,

I have a few sows in a cage and i have noticed that on the odd occasion 2 of them (sisters) make a weird noise when eating.

There lungs seem fine and theres no other signs of illness but it almost sounds like theres nose is slightly blocked.

At first i was very worried but i the space of 12 hours the symptoms go. I noticed that when they eat hay they get this, could it be hay fever? Is there anything any one could suggest and what would help?

Thanks all

It looks like the dust of the hay is bunging up their noses.

A tiny dab of vicks or olbas oil on the nose usually helps clearing it.

Make them sneeze by putting a couple of drops of water into each nostril in turn.

Some really good ideas, ill try them. When there away from the hay there fine but i've ordered a stethiscope from e bay so i can check better lol

It certainly sounds like hayfever. A few of mine have this too. Make sure the hay is as dust-free as possible - give each handful a good shake in a cardboard box before putting it into the cage to reduce the level of dust. It is surprising how much comes out of even dust-extracted hay!
