My guinea pig, 7-8mths old, was on Baytril for URI, and back at the vets to trim his broken incisors. The vet prescribe him painkillers as well for the jaw pain. He probably bit the cage bars, trying to fight with his other broken bond boar friend.

I can't seems to upload video here. Apologies for redirecting you guys to IG: Login • Instagram

Does anyone know what this condition is? He seems to have difficulties moving around. He has to use his chin to prop himself up with each hop. He is lethargic as well, I am so worried. His next appointment to the vets is next Friday for an xray.

So sorry to hear of your piggy’s problems. I’m sure our more experienced members will be along to advise.

Though given his lethargy and difficulty moving, I would be getting him straight back to the vet. Perhaps give them a call?

i’m not meaning to sound like i’m diagnosing your pig or anything. but, my pig who passed a few months ago was doing the same exact thing. she got an x ray done and it found that she was suffering from a genetic condition called osteodystrophy, which is caused by breeding. does you pig have shiny or satin looking fur? it seems that pigs with that fur texture carry the gene more. osteodystrophy affects a pig’s bones, including their jaw. it essentially causes them to dissolve. sadly, there is not cure for this condition. but, if you can catch it early enough, you can keep your pig on meds, and it can live another few years :) i hope the x ray comes back normal, and your pig stays healthy! just wanted to share about this condition because i and many other people had no idea it existed until our pigs got the diagnosis.

i also wanted to say that given your pigs symptoms, you should try your best to find an emergency vet. i had to drive about an hour to go to one but it was worth it

Thanks for the heads up. I am walking in for an xray tomorrow or Friday. I need to find the exotic vet.
No he has rough fur. Swiss breed. Hopefully its not what you mentioned but due to environmental factors, separation with friends, chew bars too hard and broke it, on medication etc. But i will bring him to the vets to have a peace of mind.
