Hi there!

I recently found a tiny patch of missing fur on Amber's bottom when doing a health check on her. She was adopted a week ago today and spent 2 days alone to settle before being introduced to my other girls. The introduction went well and was on nutural ground. The others took to her well and there was some dominance bum chasing and mounting but nothing to worry about.
I have noticed that my oldest girl, the boss of the herd, has been nipping her a couple of times if she got too close so I'm hoping this patch is just a nip and nothing more serious like a final infection or mites.
She came from a healthy place and wasn't missing any fur when adopted.
I know the photo isn't the best but it's the best I could get. There isn't any blood or scratches, she doesn't mind it being touched more than normal (she isn't the best to handle just yet as she's still fairly young!)

Please spare any advice you can, I won't hesitate on taking her to the vets but I'm hoping it's nothing more than a little nip.

Thankyou so much ❤️

Hi!

Where have you adopted from? Is it a rescue with mandatory quarantine or not, or have you rehomed privately from the free-ads?

Please have your girl vet checked for either ringworm, mange or fur mites.
Especially the first is sadly not at all uncommon in new pet shop piggies. Unfortunately, all are transmittable, so you need to treat all piggies in direct contact with the infected piggy.
In the case of ringworm, you need to practice strict hygiene measures in order to limit the spread and a reinfection from the invisible long-lived spores, which are highly contagious and can jump species (including humans).

Please take the time to read these two links below carefully.
The first gives you a list of the most common problems new piggies come with and the second shows you how a ringworm infection is running its due course and what hygiene measures you need to practice. It sounds like overkill, but it isn't. In a dozen years of existence, we heave learned the hard way in just how many ways ringworm can be transmitted, but have also worked out how to block them. Investing in a good disinfectant is the best spend you will ever make!
