Junior Guinea Pig
My 9 month old boar is 7 weeks post neuter. Neutering and healing went perfectly. After 5 weeks he suddenly has a fungal infection on his ears, hay mites and has started squeaking and jolting sometimes when pooping.
It isn't every time, but more like periods where he does it or on occasion through the day. He is pooping a lot and eating hay a lot. I also removed him from his cage mate as she was licking off the F10 gel I'm using on his fungal, but he's next door to another boar now. We've also moved recently so I appreciate there's a lot of stressors here.
This started around the week 5 mark. His poops are also not fully passing, they remain partly stuck out of his rectum until the next comes along and pushes it out. The consistency seems to vary - some a bit green/light and dry, some are wet and teardrop, but most of them look normal. He often lifts his bum up or grabs a cecal after squeaking - I feel quite sure it's to do with his rectum and not the mites or ear fungal.
All my pigs are on fiber-plex and pro-c probiotics daily, get fresh meadow hay and a few veggies per day - predominantly low calcium mix of peppers, romaine, chicory, carrot, celeriac, sometimes cucumber, fresh herbs, babycorn or celery. They get volvic water and science selective grain free. His rectum looks fine. I'm treating him with the F10, hibiscrub, ivermectin as directed by my vet. He is otherwise acting normal and happy.
I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas what could be happening? I'll go back to the vet if it doesn't improve. I was thinking his diet might be too high in watery veg as I've had to remove calcium rich veg, or his skin might be too saggy after neutering?
