Just had a email off some one asking if i would stud out my two self coloured pigs? Or allow them to pick which male they want to cover there female am alittle shocked !? :{ havent answered email not sure *** to put am not a breeder or wish to be mine are all family pets.

Apart from the obvious - there are so many needing homes in rescue that there is no point or reason to be making more, there are 1000's of unwanted pigs already, don't add to the problem - perhaps you could send them this link which explains why it's a bad idea for their pig.

Not to mention that 'studding' can lead to serious problems unless they take the time and expense to have the visiting pig tested - STDs are not uncommon and can cause the litters to fail within the womb putting the females at serious risk, both before and after the birth.

This is *** i was thinking of putting that so many need loving homes, and mine staying family pets, am not a stud farm my pigs are happy n settled without all them issues, am looking to add to my. Family tho two or a three of males if any are needing a new home? X i will include ** link in my relpy, thank *,

I wonder where they got your email address from, and saw your piggies? Anyway, your heart and sane mind are right. With soo many adorable furries needing a good home....:(

I'd definitely tell them what for! I'd be outraged if someone had the cheek to ask that of one of my boys! On top of what suzy pointed out, id also slide in that just because they look like self piggies doesn't mean they are!

People very wrongly breed on face value with little to no thought of the genetics of the pig and they may end up with some thing they don't even want, or even worse a piggie who suffers severe genetic deformity/disability.

Also suzygpr, do you know of anywhere with info on STD's in piggies? i recently met a lady who had a sow (out of her group of 3 elderly girls whom she had had for 4 years) came down with Chlamydia. And it made my curious.

I sent a reply, saying all thats been said, on here with the link supplied, ive asked where they got my email from and why breed when 100s of pigs are handed in or dumped every week!, plus i informed that just cause two of my boys look. Like selfs n i think they are doesnt mean they are,...... ?/
