One of my long haired fluffs Pepper has some kind of skin irritation on her tummy and under her chin! It doesn't look like ringworm and there's nothing on her cagemates- to be honest it most looks like excema that she had scratched! Going to get her into the vets next week (hopefully the piggy vet in Matlock on the recommended list though my local is very good with pigs) but have people seen anything like this before? Its not just around her nipples or I'd have presumed it was hormonal. 20200208_162758.jpg20200208_162619.webp

Does look a bit like a fungal infection to me so I would get to a vet asap and ensure you use good hygiene practices

I agree, please make an appointment with your vet. 😁

If you're near to Matlock, I would definitely recommend Ellie Whitehead, the guinea pig vet. She's the only vet I take my piggies to.

I agree, best have it vet checked as all we can do is guess.
It looks like fungal to me. Please use good hygiene and don't treat on spec with any creams as you are making a proper diagnosis and the correct treatment very difficult.

If it is diagnosed as ringworm, we can give you are our ringworm hygiene guide so you can get on top of it once and for all.

Thank you :) I wouldn't ever put anything not vet recommended on it. Hoping its not ringworm- doesn't look like any i have ever seen so fingers crossed

There are other milder forms of fungal around; it depends on your vet's findings.

Update: appears to be fungal but there was also a fur mite on the skin scraping that the vet took. All three are on a course of Ivermectin injections for the mites with Pepper also having a treatment for her scabs/ dry areas :)

Great that you have got a proper diagnosis!

Good that your vet has decided on using injections - the most effective way of applying ivermectin and leaving you free for any topical fungal treatment. :tu:

The vet we saw was great- well worth travelling a bit further.

Our oldest girl(boss of the trio) is mega sulking. She's in season, had to go in the car and got an injection. Grumpy old lady 😂

It is always worth travelling to see a piggy savvy vet for these kind of issues that can easily stump a general vet!

Your old lady will come round again...
