Thanks Shellie
sorry for the bad desription

Hi Shellie,

Was the pig squeaking before you fed him, and quietened down once he had his food? There are three different high-pitched squeaks with different meanings.

The strongest, most confident squeak is the classic guinea pig sound, usually called the "wheek". They'll do this either when they want or anticipate food, or if they want to catch your attention.
The second loud squeak is behaviour-related; often when a dominant pig is asserting his rank over the less dominant pig(s), he may nip, which does tend to lead to heart-rending wails from the pig in the unfortunate position of being nipped.
The third type of high-pitched squeak is heard when the pig is in pain, from cystitis for example, although there will usually be at least one other evident symptom by the time the cries are loud and frequent.

It sounds as though it was most likely to be the first squeak you heard, given it was feeding time. In which case, it sounds like he's figured out the usual signs and is able to recognise when his dinner is on its way!

Is that the noise made by your pigs with cystitis?
Every pig with cystitis that I have encountered made a noise as though it were trying to cough and croak, simultaneously.
A cystitis noise is unlike any other pig sound and tends to be diagnostic in itself.

One of my past sows had recurring cystitis, her main symptom was blood in the urine but her squeaking, and those of my other pigs who have had cystitis, were more like painful cries as they urinated. Perhaps their cases were mild compared with many other pigs?
