I was petting my guinea pig and found this. His hair was all stuck together and when I was trying to untangle it, i saw a little opening on his body (I think). He has a lot of hair, I’m unable to take a good look at it. Should I go to the vet ($$ ) or do these things usually resolve on their own? Thanks

Hi Marieguinea :)
That looks like your piggies grease gland. Sometimes it can get infected and cause an abscess. You may want to have a closer look. Also try some warm compresses. If it's infected you'll need to get some antibiotics from the vets to treat it safely :)

Boar Care: Bits, Bums & Baths

This thread might help you. It tells you all about boar's bits and how to look after them. Once you've given the grease gland a clean, you'll be more able to tell if there's anything wrong. Girl piggies have a grease gland too, and it's quite easy to see on some short haired piggies. There's a picture in the thread I've linked you to.
