Sorry if your eating while reading this as it is not the most pleasant of subjects! :))

I've just been out to have a cuddle with the pigs (2 sows) and I noticed that in their hutch there was a few strangely shaped poops. Mostly they were the normal size and shape but there were the odd ones that weren't. These poops are slightly bigger than usual and, if you imagine a normal shaped poop, it was like that but with a point at one end. They are not squeaking while pooping.

They have been out in the run nearly every day for about 2 hours recently due to the good weather. Could this be what's causing it?

Any help appreciated! Xx

Hi
Some of my piggies have in the past produced poo with a tapered end--eeek. Not a nice thing to talk about. I read somewhere that it can be a sign of being a bit dehydrated. One of the guinea pigs that was producing quite a lot of them was a bit out of sorts, but nothing too drastic. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thanks! I will feed them some watery veggies, see if that helps!

If your piggie aren't use to grass it can cause them to have an upset tummy, so poop might be wetter/sticker than normal, and as mentioned if they're not drinking poop can become distorted. If you notice any weightloss, poop continues to look odd over the next couple of days check them out at a vet :)

Ok thanks for that! x They are pretty used to grass but they have had it alot these last few days so maybe that's why?

Could be! If there pointed at the end too, sometimes piggie poop if they have a poorly tummy can come out like ermm please excuse the expression....sausages one joined to the other as they haven't formed properly. Sometimes when I'm getting my boys used to grass in spring, i put them out for two hours, gradually increasing this and putting vetbed/fleece down on the grass with hay ontop so some of the grass is offlimits (much to there disguist! :)))

I think I'll keep them off the grass tomorrow just to be on the safe side. Just been out to them and it looks as though there is no more of them weird poops just the normal sort, which is great! Hope nobody reading this thread was eating!

Haha! This made me laugh! And I though the topic of this thread was bad but now I know the topics you discuss with your OH are much worst! Have i put you off your chocolate peanuts with my thread?
