At lunch time today i was driving back down my street and very nearly ran over a dog, i breaked like mad and missed her thank god.

She was following a couple with their little dog. I went across to them and we got a number off her collar which was hard to do as she was so excited she was jumping all over. We phoned the number and it went straight to voice mail so i took her home.

My Cats were looking out the window as if to say Mums finally crossed the line bringing a dog home!

After a while of ringing the number and not getting an answer i phone the lost dogs kennels.

I took her a couple of hours later where they scanned her and got an id number so hopefully she will be able to return to her family very soon.

Took this pic its not great as she is so full of life she wouldnt stand still,

We are assuming the owners didnt realise she had gone missing as you would expect them to have the mobile switched on that is the number thats on her collar.

I still feel bad taking her to the lost dog kennels but i just couldnt keep her here with having cats, free range buns and the piggies.:( The piggies were not bothered but i had to shut the buns in the shed and as i said the cats were starring through the window at me in the garden with her thinking id gone too far bringing a dog home.

I hope she gets reunited with her family Lindsay & i wouldn't feel bad. You ensured she was safe, tried to contact her owners & when you couldn't keep her took her to a safe place. :)
She's a lovely looking dog & has obviously been well looked after.

Must have given you a shock nearly running her over. Hope her owners can be found now, she's a lovely dog. xx

You did the right thing in handing her over. Her owners will look for her there I'm sure, and as they have the scan ID as well, it looks hopeful that they'll be reunited.
Well done you. Good job you're handy with the brakes too. :rose

I'm actually glad she ran out in front of you, you've looked after her really well. I hope she is reunited with her folks soon.

That's got to be your good deed for the week!

The owners have not rang me back so I tried them again still goes to voice mail. The kennels have left them a message as well so I hope they have got that message and picked her up.

She seemed so well looked after its a shame that they don't have their phone on that's the number on her tag.

Not sure how chips work but I assume the kennels will find out the address and contact them that way. Hate the thought of her being at the kennels but she is so friendly she will be ok with them.

She came with me no problems and we played for ages in my garden while we we waiting fo her owners to ring and decide what to do when they didn't get back to us.

She is lovely. I'm sure she will be reunited with her owners now.

i had a 'similar' experience. I was out wheeling Oliver around when I started being followed by this dog. A lovely little hound puppy with droppy ears and droopy eyes. I went to give him a pat and quickly realised he was a she and she was just coming home with me. She had a collar with a screw-on tag thingy. It took me ages to unscrew it and I realised she'd come out from a house just a few doors up. when I had walked past someone had come out to go to their car and she must have sneaked out. I carried her back and owner was very grateful (not that I also gave tag and details back in a mess though! rolleyes). Oliver was very happy at his new friend! but we had to give her back...

I have not heard anything from the owner. Hoping that they have got in touch with the kennels and got her back. I will ring the kennels tomorrow and see if they have been in touch.
