Since I built the c&c for the girlies Ive had a house full of flys mallethead i change the fleece and towels every second day and i hoover twice daily. I am sick to death of the flys and i mean its not jsut one theres loads ! It's making me feel ill and I dont want people thinking I keep a dirty house! Does anyone have any tips for keeping the flys away ? x

What sort of flies have you got? Blue bottle/ house/ little tiddly ones?

I had a bit of an onslaught of tiny flies this year because of having trays of stuff growing on the windowsills. I bought some fly window stickers in Homebase and they seem to have done the trick although I have a lot of tiny corpses stuck on them now. Might have to buy some new ones. Should work for bigger flies too.
I don't seem to have a problem with flies around the c & c (touch wood) so not sure what to suggest. I have the same routine as you for cleaning/ poop scooping. The only thing that is different is that I use washable incontinence pads instead of towels. Mainly because I found the towels got smelly very quickly and they took to long to dry on the airer indoors.

Hope you can get your problem sorted out. I hate flies too. :(

Theyre not full on big flys and theyre not tiddly either :... they are inbetween? I was thinking of getting the fly eating plant or a citreonella candle? Dont know if they work as good .. I should have explained better I have a towel under their bed and fleece covering the rest of the c&c i use puppy pads underneath which are changed regularly as well as they seem to wee in 2 places. Ive been spraying the rabbit hutch out as well because I didnt know if it was him but ive never had a problem with him before ? I even tried attacking the flys with the hoover yesterday :)) I'm going to go to b&q toight see what I can get my hands on for the flys x

I think the sticky rolls work best for getting rid of flies. Citronella candles would probably give you and the pigs a headache pretty soon and it would only keep them at bay while it burned. The fly eating plant would not eat enough (I've tried it :)))

Get the sticky rolls and start removing veggies if they don't finish them and offer them again later. It also helps to put air tight lids on food and so.

I use Bugs be Gone from Gorgeous Guineas, which is a powder you can sprinkle but not sure if you can use it with fleece.

Mint is supposed to repel flies, I know some people have mint plants by the guinea cages for that reason!

I hate flies too. We are surrounded by fields here and they are muck spreading at the moment, so there's no escaping them

I have been known to hoover flies too. :))

glad I'm not the only one :))

Veggies dont last in this house :)) theres never a crumb in sight :))

I think I may be lucky in that I've somehow never had a problem with flies ( despite being surrounded by farms! )

I'm sure the suggestions you've had below will work. Hope you get rid of the little pests soon.

You must be fast! I can never get them before they fly away.

We have a huge spider that lives on the window above the GP cage. Normally spiders get a quick tour of the hoover inside but we have kept this one as he keeps the flies in check. I am hoping that he might spin something interesting to make the GPs millionaire superstars. inbreeding
