Hello all.
I weigh my guinea pigs every week and these are the measurements.

Womble Stripe

13/1/18 0.9kg 1kg
20/1/18 0.916kg 1.028kg
28/1/18 0.928kg 1.039kg
3/2/18 0.933kg 1.044kg
11/2/18 0.938kg 1.026kg

Should I be concerned that Stripe has lost 18g over this week (Unless I haven't weighed him properly)
He seems to be eating ok. It's hard to tell to be honest, but they're chuntering and squeaking away. He's still destroying his cardboard box and being himself. (So it possibly isn't dental problems)
He's running around not lethargic at all. I haven't got a precise age, but I think they're around a year old.
I think I will weigh him again tomorrow and see, instead of waiting the week.

Hi! The daily variance between a full belly and bladder and an empty one is about 40g. You need to go on alert only if the weight loss is going over 50g within a matter of one or a few days or over 100g in a gradual decline over several months. Switch to weighing daily at the same time in feeding cycle (before lunch or dinner) if that is the case and see a vet if necessary.
If the weight loss is very quick, then please start offering syringe feed and water as a top up.

Thank you I will keep an eye on him :)

I’d barely register that little weight loss - more likely to be a bladder variation or scale setting - unless it continued. As @Wiebke has suggested - weigh daily at the same time and then you will see if there’s a problem.

Thank you :)

He's eating fine. Running around a lot chunnering and squeaking to himself. He's put the weight back on but I did weigh him after he's eaten. I'll still keep an eye on him for a couple more days. :) but thank you to everyone I felt very reassured. :) I'm not all that confident when it comes to health as I lost a hamster and it really knocked my confidence and I was quite upset i didn't see he was poorly sooner.
