Hello,we have an 8 month old guinea pig who seems intent on bullying our two other female guinea pigs one of whom is her half sister, she has been part of our family for nine or ten weeks and we would like to keep her as when she is having a cuddle she is the sweetest little thing and we have become fond of her.We are having another two baby little girls from our breeder, and we really don't want her to be by herself, any ideas please.Andrew.

Hi, I am sorry to hear your piggies are not getting along, it sounds as if she wants to be top pig but feels challenged by the others and so has to keep reminding them that she is in charge. One idea would be that rather than getting new babies from a breeder, maybe take your piggy to a rescue who can bond her with a friend of her choosing. :)

It may change when you add 2 more to the group or it could get worse. I had a similar problem last year with one female out of 4 not getting along. I bonded her with a neutered male them found they all got on together with him around so ended up with a group of 5. This may be an idea for you if they still don't get on after the other 2 are added.

This too an idea we could try, thank you very much.

I agree with what has been said so far. Adding more piggies is a gamble, it can work, but it can equally make things worse.

If you can, I would rather date your girls at one of our recommended UK rescues for character compatibility. The same, if you can get to a rescue with a neutered boar policy - dating can make all the difference in finding just the right mate! But a neutered boar is certainly an option if things don't work out, if only as a mate to your difficult girl.
